CANNES NFT & METAVERSE
Auction of 10 iconic buildings and places in the city of Cannes in NFT
Artcurial organized a world premiere: the auction of 10 iconic buildings and places in the city of Cannes, in the form of NFT, in collaboration with the Mairie de Cannes & the company Pertimm.
Under the hammer of Maître Arnaud Oliveux, the sale event totaled $349,618, with 100 % of the lots sold. The NFT at the Palais des Festivals & des Congrès won the highest bid of $69,095 including tax.
From the terrace of the Capitainerie du Port Canto, which offers a panoramic view of the 10 sites and buildings put up for sale, maître Arnaud Oliveux auctioned off all 10 digitized NFT assets.
10 % of the proceeds will be donated to the Cannes Endowment Fund for local environmental projects.
The first two lots brought down the bids: the NFT at the Palais des Festivals & des Congrès sold for 65,600 euros, while the one at the Croisette sold for 59,040 euros.
The Vieux-Port's NFT reached 22,304 euros/$23,492, while minutes later those of the Suquet and Ecomusée sous-marin sold for 27,552 euros/$29,020, respectively.
Ile Sainte-Marguerite and its Fort Royal, the tenth and final NFT in the sale, closed the sale at 45,920 euros/ $48,366.
Buyers can now deploy these NFTs in the metaverse platform of their choice. They received a 3D model of the place to combine digital immersion with physical experience.
While French law authorizes auction houses to sell "intangible goods" as of March 1st, Artcurial is proud of the success of its first NFTs sale!
"This sale event is a success! I am proud to have led this sale, which is a world first. The ten iconic buildings and places found buyers this evening, with great bidding battles in the hall, on the phone, & live streaming."
