Ethereum 2.0 will save 99,95% energy since august 2022
For some time, Ethereum developers have been working on "merge", or the transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake.
This transition will be momentous for cryptocurrency because it will save more than 99 percent of the energy required for its creation.
One of the main objections to cryptocurrencies, primarily Bitcoin, is the environmental impact of their creation.
According to the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index, the amount of electricity used to mine bitcoin in a year would be enough to boil water for all the cups of tea consumed in the United Kingdom for 30 years.
The Ethereum Foundation predicts that the new version of Ethereum, called Ethereum 2.0, will use 99.95 percent less energy.
