NFT BETTY BOOP METAVERSE

Betty Boop dresses up as NFT and enters the metaverse

The Boop & Frens collection aims to bring fans of the legendary character together in one virtual space, where they can purchase one of 8,888 themed NFTs.

Betty Boop made her screen debut on August 9, 1930, in the form of a poodle in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes. Two years later, in Bamboo Isle, she appeared as we know her today: human features and subversive character for a character inspired by Helen Kane, born Helen Clare Schroeder, a dancer and singer also famous for the classic I Wanna Be Loved by You.

The irreverent Betty was not slow to arouse the outrage of the U.S. conservative wing, which in a stroke of production code banned her as morally unacceptable.

The date chosen for delivery is by no means coincidental: the 8,888 collectibles will be unveiled on August 9. The Boop & Frens community will be able to use the NFTs to customize the character with outfits designed by the MYAMI Studio brand, which, in the metaverse, focuses on digital haute couture.

Fans will also be able to participate in side events such as rallies and concerts in what will be an open metaverse, in the intentions of Global Icons LLC and XLABEL, the partners involved in the operation by Fleischer Studios Inc, the company that brought the character to life nearly 100 years ago.

Great enthusiasm from Mark Fleischer, president of the eponymous house as well as grandson of Max Fleischer, Betty Boop's artistic father. The idea of creating an open metaverse will also serve to convey the values of a character who was born to advance the fight for gender equality.

Betty Boop was from the beginning an icon of kindness, independence, but above all social acceptance in a decidedly sexy wrapper. She has paid dearly for the toll of being ahead of her time, which today, however, seems ripe for conveying such sensitive messages to an international audience.
