NFT FC BARCELLONA $693,000

FC Barcelona's "In a Way, Immortal", NFT celebrating Johan Cruyff

FC Barcelona's "In a Way, Immortal", the first NFT in the club's history celebrating Johan Cruyff, sold for $693,000 at an auction at Sotheby's in New York on Aug. 19.

The NFT audiovisual digital art aesthetically recreates a goal scored by Cruyff, who later became the club's coach, against Atletico Madrid in 1973.

Cruyff, who died in 2016, played for Barcelona from 1973 to 1978 and returned to coach the club in 1988, helping it win its first Champions Cup in 1992 as well as four league titles. Beyond trophies, he is considered one of the guardians of the club's style of play and philosophy.

In addition to NFT's ownership rights, the auction winner will also be named a digital ambassador at the Catalan club and will be entitled to other benefits, including access to training sessions.
